What is Pilates?
Pilates is a form of exercise developed by Joseph Pilates. His methodology and design of his exercises focus on creating a balanced body. A balanced body is a conditioned body that moves with strength, flexibility, and endurance. It focuses on core strength and stability, which includes stabilizing the pelvis and shoulder girdle while maintaining postural alignment while in motion.

Allysia Nicolle has always been captivated by the beauty of the body in motion. She began dancing at the age of four and, before graduating high school, successfully completed advanced levels in both the Royal Academy of Dance and the Cecchetti method. Additionally, she spent three summers training at the Banff School of Fine Arts' Summer Dance Program.
After high school, Allysia moved to Chicago on a dance scholarship to pursue her career in dance while also continuing her studies. It was during her time in Chicago that Pilates became an essential component of her dance training and conditioning. However, in her final year, just before graduation, Allysia suffered a torn ACL.
Following her graduation, Allysia returned to Edmonton for knee surgery and began a rigorous sports rehabilitation program. This program incorporated Pilates, and it was here that she discovered her passion for the Pilates method. Pilates not only helped her regain her range of motion but also restored her strength. With her knee fully functional, Allysia successfully re-entered the professional dance world.
Currently, Allysia is working towards her full Pilates certification. In her spare time, you can find her taking Pilates, dance, or yoga classes, riding her Peloton bike, or enjoying the beautiful Edmonton summers on the golf course.
At Core Strength Pilates, we are dedicated to helping our clients reach their fitness goals through private and duet sessions, utilizing both reformer and mat techniques. With over 25 years of experience in dance and Pilates, Allysia Nicolle's expertise in body movement truly sets her apart. We believe that fitness is a holistic journey that nourishes both the mind and body.

The Reformer is the most widely used Pilates equipment. It has its own repertoire of exercises with the ability to add resistance for a full body workout.

Joseph Pilates originated the pilates technique with a series of Mat exercises. Done on a mat thicker than a yoga mat; you use your own body weight to strengthen your core.
